Cal.3185, which was first installed in the GMT-Master II (Ref.16710), features a single short hand drive, and when used in combination with a bi-directional rotating bezel, it is possible to read up to the third time. The difference from the previous movement, Cal.3085, is that the bridge that supports the balance has been changed from a single to a twin, and the adjustment mechanism has been changed from a Micro Stella screw to a Micro Stella nut. This change has added stability in terms of accuracy, and it has become possible to perform maintenance more effectively because it is possible to easily perform backlash adjustment.
The micro Stella nut of the adjustment mechanism has a free sprung specification, which eliminates wear due to friction, increasing durability and improving vibration resistance.

GMTマスターII（Ref.16710）に初搭載されたCal.3185は、短針単独駆動が特徴で、両方向回転ベゼルとの併用によりサードタイムまで読み取りが可能となっています。　前ムーブメントにあたるCal.3085との違いは、テンプを支えるブリッジがシングルからツインへ変更された点と調整機構がマイクロステラスクリューからマイクロステラナットへ変更された点です。この変更により、精度面に安定性が加わり、また、あがき調整も容易に行うことが出来るためメンテナンスも有利に行えるようになっっています。
調整機構のマイクロステラナットにおいては、フリースプラング仕様であることから摩擦による消耗が無くなることによって耐久性が増し、且つ、耐振性においても向上しています。
フリースプラング仕様はロレックス以外にもパテック・フィリップやランゲ&ゾーネ、ブレゲ等といった高級ブランド時計にも採用され、1990年代におけるムーブメントの中では、機能面と実用面の両面において最高クラスのムーブメントと言えるでしょう。
